Bay Area Partnership for Children and Youth

The Bay Area Partnership for Children and Youth is a nonprofit organization that focuses on schools and community-based organizations in the Bay Area's lowest-income communities. Under the Bay Area Partnership's guidance, schools and community-based organizations seek to access public funding and secure assistance to implement a wide range of youth programs. The Bay Area Partnership has extensive knowledge of how successful after-school and summer programs work and particular expertise on the strengths and weaknesses of the federal 21st Century Community Learning Centers program.

The Bay Area Partnership engaged Policy Strategies and Solutions, forming a powerful relationship with a deep knowledge base. We collaborated to develop a federal policy agenda, including detailed legislative language and related materials. Policy Strategies and Solutions created a targeted advocacy plan that included coalition-building, communications and federal advocacy strategies.

As a result of our plan implementation, the Bay Area Partnership now leads a coalition of more than 25 school districts and community-based organizations across the country in advocating for its after-school and summer policy recommendations. It has become an expert voice calling for specific language to be included in proposals moving forward in Congress. We assisted the Bay Area Partnership in transforming opportunity into action by adding key partnerships that widen its policy and advocacy reach.
