an Advocacy Strategy
American Heart Association
The American Heart Association (AHA) chose to partner with Policy Strategies and Solutions when it focused its campaign to end childhood obesity on schools. Influencing federal education policy was critical to the success of the AHA campaign.
Policy Strategies and Solutions collaborated with AHA to develop policy goals and draft legislative language. Recognizing that AHA-generated policies would need a strong foothold in Congress, we proposed a legislative and advocacy strategy to create awareness of the urgency surrounding childhood health issues. Anticipating potential concerns over whether the AHA agenda would truly effect a positive difference for children's health, Policy Strategies and Solutions also researched and analyzed the policy and political landscapes.
The AHA policies were successfully introduced as the Fit Kids Act in both the House and the Senate and are under congressional consideration. At every stage of this dynamic process, Policy Strategies and Solutions continues to monitor implementation of the AHA agenda and offers strategic consulting to ensure that AHA's policy agenda maintains its high-profile status before Congress.
